Nature has its own way of keeping the body warm.But there are certain food that are best consumed in the winter. And across the country, there are many winter special cuisines which add more warmth to the body. Winter is the best time to enjoy a hearty meal of gobi paratha, mooli paratha and polish it off then with a plate of moong halwa or gajar halwa. This is also the time to have your share of green leafy vegetables.
Pulses and whole grains: Winter is the time to have your share of bajra, maize and the like. Millets can be used to make hot porridge. Winter is also the time to enjoy a meal of rajma, chawal or even chhole bature. You can give calorie counting a miss and enjoy a nice hearty meal under the mild winter sun.
Spice it up: Winter is the time to have ginger, garlic, cinnamon, turmeric and cloves. One can drink water boiled with turmeric, ginger, ajwain to keep one’s immunity system strong and thereby avoid common cold, flu and other infections.
Honey and jaggery: Traditionally, til (sesame seeds) and gur (jaggery) make for an excellent winter food. So also peanuts and jaggery. One can have atta ladoos in winter to keep you warm.
