JAMMU: Resident of Ward No. 52 on Sunday assembled near the Cremation Ground, Channi Himmat and lodged a protest against alleged allotment of the newly reclaimed land (Nallah) in favour of some influential persons in connivance with Jammu Housing Board authorities which was earmarked for the use of the cremation ground for parking of vehicles and construction of toilets for ladies.
The protestors raised slogans against the Housing Board authorities and asked them to desist from wrong and illegal allotment of the land which is utterly against the master plan of the colony.
They resolved that the said land should immediately be utilized for the construction of the ladies toilet and the parking of vehicles for the cremation ground.
The residents requested that there should be a thorough investigation into the irregularities in allotment of various plots in Channi Himmat area which are under Housing Board Jammu and culprits dealt under law.
Mandal Mahamantri BJP, Gandhi Nagar, Vikas Jain further resolved that the protest shall continue in case suitable remedial action is not taken immediately.
Nitin Thappa Vice President Ward No. 52, Prof B.L Bhat, B.L Sher, Darshan Kumar, Abhinay Chandel and others who were present in the protest extended thanks to Deputy CM Dr. Nirmal Singh for his positive response to their demand.
