Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi honours Balwant Thakur

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi honoured Balwant Thakur Director Natrang here at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh on the concluding day of Chandigarh Children Theatre Festival-2017.
The honours were conferred on Balwant Thakur by Mahendra Kumar former Chairman, Indian Theatre Department in presence of the galaxy of intellectuals including the Chairman of Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi.
Balwant Thakur presented his highly acclaimed Hindi play ‘Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun’ before the jam packed Chandigarh elite amongst thunderous applauds. Known world over for his unique contribution to children theatre, Balwant Thakur possesses a rarest distinction for being the only theatre director whose children plays Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hain and Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun are the longest living contemporary children plays of India which are non-stop being played all over the country since almost last three decades.
Back home he was honored by Dogri Sanstha, Jammu Citizen Council, Chamber of Commerce, Amar Rajput Sabha, Brahamin Prathinidhi Sabha, J and K Fine Arts Society, Zorawar Singh Memorial Committee, Ladakh Theatre Organisation and Bakshi Memorial Committee, Manch Rangmanch, Punjab Naatshalla, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi, Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi, Abhinaya Kala Mandir, Naksha Gobardanga (West Bengal) and Punjab Arts Council. He has also been honoured with the title Duggar Rattan.
