Chandigam XI lifts Lolab Premier League trophy

CHANDIGAM: In a thrilling encounter Chandigam XI defeated Maidanpura Boys in the finals of Lolab Premier League (LPL) to lift the Championship Trophy. The tournament was organised by Rashtriya Rifle unit under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
The Lolab Premier witnessed some real exciting matches during the league stages but the final match as expected was an exceptional display of cricketing skills, fighting spirit and determination from both teams.
Earlier, the toss was won by Chandigam XI who invited Maidanpura Boys to bat first. Maidanpura Boys had a bad start as they lost their openers in first five overs. The middle order batsmen steadied the innings with a partnership and as they started to up the tempo. Maidanpura Boys posted a challenging score of 154/5 in their 20 overs which fell atleast 30 runs short due to slow run rate and consistent sharp bowling attack.
In reply, Chandigam XI also had a bad start, losing their opener cheaply in first five overs but all batsmen in their middle and lower order chipped in with runs at a brisk pace. The inning saw many ups and downs as wickets fell at regular interval but Chandigam XI batsmen showed great determination and fighting spirit to successfully chase down the target score in 19.1 overs at a loss of nine wickets and thus becoming the Champions of LPL-2015.
The celebrations by Chandigam XI team after lifting the cup clearly brought out a sigh of relief, satisfaction and happiness for the players as they achieved success with sheer hard work, fighting spirit and determination.
The LPL culminated with the prize distribution ceremony, in which Farhat Ahmad of Chandigam XI was awarded Man of the Match trophy for turning the match in favour of his team by scoring 19 runs in just seven balls when only one wicket was left and asking rate was 12. Farhat Nabi Lone of Dream Boys, Magam was adjudged the Man of the Series and was awarded with a trophy for his all round performance, smashing 203 runs and taking 18 wickets in entire LPL T-20 Cricket Tournament.
The LPL T-20 cricket Tournament is organised annually by RR Battalion of 8 Sector RR to provide a platform to the budding cricketers of the area to display their cricketing skills and inculcate values of sportsmanship and team work.
