Chairman LC visits Kargil Hostels, directs taking up renovation, repairs immediately

SRINAGAR: Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, visited Government Kargil Girls Hostel, Nowshera, Government Kargil Boys Hostel (KBH), Bemina and Kargil House Bemina and took stock of the facilities being provided to the inmates.
During the visit the Chairman laid stress on keeping cleanliness in the Hostels. He directed the concerned wardens to ensure that the kitchen, utensils, rooms and bathrooms are kept neat and clean.
The Chairman directed the concerned authorities to provide all basic facilities to the inmates in these hostels. He said that arrangements should be made for providing Solar Lighting System at Girls Hostel Nowshera in order to provide uninterrupted power supply. He directed arranging 10 beds for the students at the earliest.
Expressing dismay over the present condition of Kargil Boys Hostel at Bemina, the Chairman directed the concerned Warden to ensure proper cleaning of the kitchen and rooms. He also directed the authorities of R&B to take immediate steps for renovation and repair work in the Hostel which was damaged during September 2014 floods.
On the occasion the Chairman was told that 37 girl students of Kargil are putting up in 16 rooms at Government Kargil Girls Hostel, Nowshera, who are pursuing higher education in Srinagar at University and College levels. At Kargil Boys Hostel Bemina, the Chairman was informed that there are 35 students putting in 25 rooms.
Later, the Chairman visited Kargil House Bemina. He interacted with some patients of Kargil who come to Srinagar for treatment and are staying at Kargil House.
Responding to the demands of the students, the Chairman said that the matter of providing ration to the welfare institutions and additional gas connections will be taken up with the concerned authorities.
