JAMMU: The Central Govt Pensioners’ Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) has hailed the induction of Dr. Jitendra Singh, third time MP from Kathua-Udhampur constituency, into Modi’s new Council of Ministers as Union Minister of State (Independent Charge).
In a statement, the General Secretary of the CGPWA, K B Jandial has welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for retaining him in PMO for the third time, a great honour for any MP, with previous portfolios including Personnel & Public Grievances and Pensions.
While he is fully qualified to be elevated to a Cabinet Minister in view of his outstanding performance as a Parliamentarian and an Administrator in last ten years, and seniority, his continuation in the Ministry of Pensions too has a special importance for Central Govt Pensioners as he has been instrumental in undertaking a series of reforms like Digital Life Certificate through face identification technology, to make the life of pensioners easy.
Jandial said that it is a matter of pride for Jammu that Dr. Jitendra Singh falls in the group of about half a dozen high performing Ministers of Modi’s last Cabinet like Rajnath, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari who have been allotted the same portfolios which they held in the last tenure. This shows that he is not only a great asset for the Union Govt and Modi but also earned the unflinching faith and confidence of the Prime Minister in implementing his vision including of Viksit Bharat.
The General Secretary said that Dr Jitender Singh, in his last tenure, has been a huge support to CGPWA, Jammu in resolving long pending issue and irritants in functioning of the CGHS in Jammu and deployed his senior officer to take stock of ground situation and got the second Wellness centre in Jammu established which the Department had been mulling to take it out of Jammu.
Wishing Dr Jitendra Singh yet another very successful tenure in the Union Govt, Jandial said that there are some critical pending issues of pensioners like reducing the period of recovery of Commuted pension on the pattern of Gujarat Govt and release of notional increment of those who had retired on 30th June or 31st December as ordered by the Supreme Court. These issues are unnecessarily delayed by the bureaucracy and need firm directions from PM Modi and Dr. Jitendra Singh, he added.
