Certain political parties trying to politicise human tragedies: Sagar
SRINAGAR: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar on Sunday said that the government is taking every possible measure to ensure that the flood affectees are adequately rehabilitated but certain forces are trying to politicise the human tragedies and get political mileage from these which is very unfortunate.
The minister was addressing huge gathering during his extensive tour of Kokernag area other day, where he took stock of the damages suffered as a consequence of the recent floods. The areas covered include Hiller, Halpora, Dandipora, Itoo Mohalla, Telbal, Matti, Chopan Mohalla, and Kokernag.
The minister was accompanied by Director, Rural Development Department, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmed, Senior officers of District Administration and eminent political activists of the area.
The minister said that the government has initiated the necessary measures to ensure adequate rehabilitation of the people who have got affected as a result of the recent deluge. He said “We have taken every possible step for providing relief to the affected people and have also submitted a comprehensive relief proposal to the Centre for their rehabilitation and the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the relief measures being taken on day to day basis, so that it reaches to every person who has got affected”.
Sagar said “It is very strange that certain political parties are trying to gain political mileage from the human tragedies, adding that they should desist from the practice and instead come forward and contribute their bit in ensuring adequate rehabilitation of the people who have been struck by the recent floods”. He said “We should all collectively synergise our efforts for ensuring speedy reconstruction of the areas which have been badly damaged as a consequence of the recent deluge”.
Referring to the various initiatives undertaken by the government for ensuring the sustained development of the rural and far-flung areas, the minister said that the developmental schemes initiated are need based, area specific and instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people living in these areas besides, ensuring the creation of infrastructural assets and job opportunities.
