LEH: As a part of National Electoral Roll and Purification (NERP) Programme 2016 being carried out across the country these days, the Chief Electoral Office (CEO), J and K organised a one-day training programme on Stock taking of EVMs and VVPATS using mobile App and National Electoral Roll and Purification (NERP) Programme 2016 for the Tehildars, AEROs and BLOs of Leh district at Sindhu Sanskariti Hall Leh under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer, J and K Shantmanu. The Deputy Commissioner/ District Election Officer, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G, Dy. Chief Electoral Officer, J and K Naveed Ahmad Wani and district level officers also attended the day long training programme. NERP programme has been launched this week across the country with intensive verification by the field functionaries and stakeholders to enhance the purity and fidelity of Electoral Rolls and to standardization of Polling Station for electors convenience and facilitate electors to reach their Polling Station with ease.
Addressing the training programme, Shantmanu said that the role of BLOs in election process is very vital and urged upon all the trainee BLOs to take the training progarmme seriously by clearing their doubts and confusions during the training. He said that the Election Commission of India gives utmost importance in enrolment of all the eligible citizens and to help electors to reach and cast their votes in a hassle free way at their respective polling stations.
Talking about the Stock taking of EVMs and VVPATS using mobile App, CEO, Shantamanu said that Election Commission of India will now use mobile phones to track the EVMs adding that all the EVMs will be tagged with bar codes, and subsequently mobile phones were used to upload information and unique ID of each and every EVM. Later, through power point presentation, Naveed Ahmad Wani and Parminder Singh, State Level Master Trainers imparted training to the BLOs about National Electoral Roll and Purification Programme 2016 and Stock taking of EVMs and VVPATS using mobile App in details.
Earlier, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Leh Kul Bushan Khajuria gave detail status of EPICs coverage, deletion, addition and correction in voter list of Leh and Nubra assembly segments.
