Central team holds meeting with CS; discusses package

SRINAGAR: The team sent by the Central Government to review the situation on ground in the flood- hit Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday held meeting with Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey here.
Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, B.R Sharma, Principal Secretary, Finance, B.B Vyas, Principal Secretary, Home, Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary PDD, A.K Mehta, DGP, K Rajendra, all administrative secretaries and senior officers were also present.
A presentation detailing sector wise quantum of loss and the steps taken by the government to provide relief to the flood affected population and status of restoration works carried after the devastating floods was given in the meeting.
Discussion was also held on the memorandum submitted to the Union Government for seeking financial assistance to the tune of Rs 44,000 Cr, besides support to business and industrial units.
Thanking the team for their considerate view on the losses suffered by the State, Chief Secretary said that the government and people of the State have high hopes that Centre will extend full assistance in giving relief to the people for the losses they have incurred on account of the devastating floods.
Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs and leader of the team M Gopal Reddy said that he would be submitting report to the Union Government at the earliest.
The inter-ministerial central team had visited various flood affected districts in both Kashmir and Jammu Division to assess the situation in the wake of September floods.
