CEC LAHDC inaugurates hatchery plant

LEH: CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa Lonpo on Tuesday inaugurated the first of its kind Hatchery Plant here at Poultry Farm, Chanspa.
EC Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, EC Animal Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain, EC Tourism Tsering Sandup, Councilor Upper Leh, Dr. Mohd Iqbal, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Leh, Poultry Development Officer Leh and doctors and staff of Animal Husbandry Department were present on the occasion.
Calling it a historic moment, CEC said that it is for the first time in history of Ladakh a hatchery plant has been developed. He assured that Hill Council is ready to provide any kind of financial or motivational support in successful running of the plant but at the same time he said that the support depends on the capacity and dedication of the team and its leader.
Giving brief description about the hatchery plant Dr. Iqbal said that the plant remained non functional since its installation but his team took all possible steps like proper electrification, humidity control, oxygen control, production and procurement of fresh fertile eggs to make this plant functional. He informed that around 5,990 eggs have been loaded in the incubator on July 22, 2017 and by tomorrow morning the hatches will be available that would indicate the success of their initiative. He affirmed that the functioning of the Hatchery plant will boost the poultry development in the district which is lacking due to non availability of Day Old Chicks (DOCs). He informed that four milk testing machines are enroute from Gujarat and on arrival shall change the milk scenario in Leh.
Later, CEC inspected the road work between Skara and Petrol Pump and assured completion of all the road works in Leh by the end of this month.
