CCI Jammu defers elections amid border tensions

JAMMU: In light of the prevailing security situation along the border and recent drone and missile attacks on Jammu, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) Jammu has decided to defer its upcoming elections, originally scheduled for May 11.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Executive Committee, convened by Shiv Partap Gupta, Election President of the Chamber.
During the meeting, members were informed about verbal directions from the Divisional Commissioner, advising against holding the elections under the current circumstances.
The Divisional Commissioner’s office also sent a written communication to the Chamber President, stating that it would be inadvisable to proceed with the elections amid the tense situation on the border.
Citing these concerns, the Executive Committee, with majority consensus, agreed to postpone the elections until normalcy is restored. The committee expressed its priority for the safety and well-being of the members and the general public in the region.
Election President Shiv Partap Gupta further announced that the current team of office bearers will continue to function in their respective roles until the Executive Committee decides a new date for the elections. This decision was also approved by the Executive Committee through a majority vote.
The Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to standing with the people of Jammu during these challenging times and pledged to cooperate fully with the administration for the safety and stability of the region.
Prominent among others in the meeting include Manmohan Singh, Kulbhushan Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Romesh Chander Gupta, former President, Prithvi Raj Gupta, Former Secretary General, Rajendra Motial, Former Secretary General, Ravinder Sawhney, Jagdish langer, Ravinder Goel, Murari Lal, Surinder Mahajan, Dr. Gautam Goel, Ashok Gupta, Kailash Langer, Virender Puri, Kamal Kishor Gupta, Deepak Gupta, Sanjay Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Kamal Randhwa and S.M Bali, Dinesh Gupta, Rajan Gupta, Rajeev Langer, Contesting Candidates Rakesh Gupta and his team.
