CCI hails Govt for extending date for filing VAT returns

JAMMU: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) on Thursday hailed the decision of State Government for extending the date for filing of VAT returns and depositing VAT tax for one month till 31st August 2016.
In a meeting of CCI members and representatives of other trade and industry organisations here at Chamber House, several issues of serious concern for the business community were raised and discussed threadbare.
At the outset, President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rakesh Gupta thanked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Dr. Haseeb A Drabu for favouring the business fraternity by extending the last date for filing VAT returns.
Taking serious note on mushroom growth of several civil society organisations claiming to be the representatives of people and also trade and industrial organizations, CCI members after thorough deliberations with Presidents and Secretaries of different trade, market, industrial and transport associations unanimously decided to made it clear that the parent forum and apex body of all the trade, bazaar, industrial and transport associations was Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Chamber cautioned all those claiming to be representatives of trade and industrial bodies to desist from making any statement henceforth.
“The Income Tax Department is conducting surveys at a time when the State is passing through a critical phase having detrimental effect on business and also that the last date for IDS is 30th September. If any assesse is served with any notice or called by the Income Tax Department, he or she should ensure compliance as department can opt for survey in case of non-compliance”, the meeting cautioned.
Sham Lal Langer, Senior Vice President CCI, Deepak Aggarwal, Junior Vice President, Rahul Mahajan, Secretary, Ashu Gupta, Treasurer CCI, Lalit Mahajan, Chairman FOI and Ajay Langer, Secretary General FOI were also present.
The representatives of various associations present in the meeting include Kanak Mandi Traders Association, Lakhdata Bazar Businessmen Association, Rajinder Bazar Businessmen Association, Parade Road Businessmen Association, Narwal Sabzi Mandi Traders Association, Lower Raghunath Bazar Traders Association, Nanak Nagar Businessmen Association, Shalamar Road Businessmen Association, Vir Marg Traders Association, Bus Stand Businessmen Association, Motibazar Businessmen Association, Mangal Market Railway Station Businessmen Association, Jain Bazar Businessmen Association, Purani Mandi Businessmen Association, Parade Motor Parts Businessmen Association, Apsara Road Businessmen Association, New Secretariat Road Businessmen Association, Central Basic School Purani Mandi Traders Association, New Hari Market Businessmen Association, Hari Market Businessmen Association, Trikuta Nagar Businessmen Association, Gurdwara Road Traders Association Gandhi Nagar, Residency Road Businessmen Association, Upper Gumat Businessmen Association, Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association, Old Hospital Road Businessmen Association and Shiv Market Railway Station Businessmen Association.
