CCI appeals jewellers to open shops

JAMMU: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) expressed concern over the problems being faced by the jewellers fraternity due to unethical pressure from various quarters to sell gold against illegal currency after the demonetization announced by the Prime Minister on 8th November, 2016.
CCI President, Rakesh Gupta called on the jewellers association to discuss the genuine problems being faced by them. He requested the jewellers to open their establishments as people from cross section of society have approached the Chamber and expressed their problems as the marriage season is still on and they are facing acute problem due to the closure of jewelers shop.
Chamber warned the miscreants in general not to indulge in such activities to pressurise the jewellers community to accept their black money and the jewellers association assured the Chamber that they will open their shops from tomorrow morning and also decided that the sales shall be totally against new currency notes issued by RBI, credit and debit cards and cheques.
Those present in the meeting include Chairman of Sarafa Association and Swarnkar Sangh Joint Action Committee Jammu Province, Raman Suri President of Sarafa Association Jammu, Parjan Kumar Jain General Secretary Sarafa Association Jammu, Vijay Verma, executive members of Sarafa Association, Rakesh Mahajan, Chaman Lal Khajuria and Surinder Jain.
