CB registers FIR in Job Fraud involving Rs 9 Lakh

JAMMU: Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has registered a formal case against two accused persons for allegedly cheating a complainant of Rs 9,00,000 on the false pretext of providing a job.
A written complaint was lodged by the complainant, alleging that Ajay Gupta, son of Nirmal Gupta and his wife Anshu Gupta, wife of Ajay Gupta, both residents of Lane No. 2, Sarwal, near Shangrilla Higher Secondary School, Jammu, fraudulently and dishonestly induced him on the assurance of providing a suitable job, in lieu of a substantial amount of money.
Sharing details of the case, Sanjay Parihar SSP SCW Jammu informed that the complainant alleged in his written complaint that while relying on the assurances of the accused persons, he paid a total amount of Rs 9,00,000 out of which Rs 3,50,000 was transferred into the bank account of accused Anshu Gupta, Rs 2,00,000 into the bank account of accused Ajay Gupta, while the remaining Rs 3,50,000 was paid in cash.
It is further alleged that after receiving the said amount, the accused persons repeatedly delayed fulfillment of their promise on one pretext or another.
Subsequently, the accused persons issued two cheques amounting to Rs 2,00,000 and Rs 7,00,000 respectively, as security towards repayment. However, upon presentation, the said cheques were dishonoured.
Despite repeated requests and demands, neither was any job arranged nor was the amount returned to the complainant. On receipt of e complaint, Sanjay Parihar said, a preliminary verification was conducted, which revealed that the accused persons, with criminal intent from the very inception, had misrepresented facts and dishonestly induced the complainant to part with his hard-earned money.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at Police Station Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the above-named accused persons, Sanjay Parihar said adding that further investigation of the case has been entrusted to Inspector Kali Charan, Investigating Officer, Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu.
The SSP appealed general public to remain cautious and aware of such fraudsters and their tempting offers.
