CB produces fifth charge-sheet in ETT scam

JAMMU: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu on Tuesday produced supplementary charge-sheet of case FIR No. 36/2013 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B/RPC read with Section 5(2) P/.C. Act at Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu for the session 2007-2009 before Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu against eight accused persons.
The list of accused persons include Janak Raj Bharti, son of Om Parkash, resident of Jakhbar, Kathua, promoter of Jammu Educational Society, (ETT Institute) Kathua; Udhay Bhanu Chib, son of Hari Singh, resident of Paloura, Jammu, promoter of Th. JBS Institute of ETT, Barnai, Jammu; Ravi Kumar Gupta, son of C B Gupta, resident of 242, Kanji House, Raghunath Bazaar, Jammu promoter of Shankaracharya ETT institute, Jammu, Promoter of ACE Human Resource Development Institute of Education, Jammu, Promoter of Baba Dharam Chand ETT Institute, Jammu, Promoter of Jai Jagdambay ETT and RI, Kathua, Promoter of Surabhi ETT Institute, Kathua and Dr Shiekh Bashir Ahmed, son of Miyan Mohd. Sultan, resident of village Pahilipora Safapora, Ganderbal, then Director Academics and Secretary Board of School Education, Jammu.
The CB informed that the investigation of the case with regard to the remaining three sessions (2008-2010, 2009-2011 and 2011-2013) is going on. Moreover, departmental action has been recommended against one of the trustees of Maloofa Educational Trust namely Nazir Ahmed Choudhary, son of Haji Fakar Din, resident of H. No. 679 Sector C, Sainik Colony, Jammu.
SSP, CB Jammu MubassirLatifi informed that the investigation of the case is being carried out on year-wise/session-wise basis. The promoters and the Board officers involved in the first five academic sessions have been charge-sheeted, he added.
He further said that, after investigation into remaining three sessions, more people involved would be charge-sheeted in the Court of Law in the coming days.
The facts of the case are that a communication dated 3rd September, 2013 from Chairman, J&K Board of School Education (BOSE), Srinagar addressed to IGP, Crime Branch, J&K Srinagar along with an enquiry report of Joint Secretary Legal (KD), J&K Board of School Education, Srinagar was received in Crime Branch, Jammu from Crime Headquarters for registration of a formal case into the matter and to investigate the same.
On receipt of this complaint and the report case FIR No. 36/2013 under aforesaid Sections was registered in CB Jammu and the investigation of the case was started by a team of officers of Crime Branch, Jammu constituted vide Zonal Headquarters Crime Branch, Jammu’s order endorsement No. CR/R/FIR-36/2013/CBJ/12342-46 dated 8th November, 2013.
