CB lodges two persons in jail for forging fake PRC to claim migration relief

JAMMU: The Crime Branch (CB) Jammu on Friday arrested two individuals for preparing and using fake Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) to fraudulently claim migration relief benefits from the government.
After completing a detailed investigation, the Crime Branch presented the case before the Court and lodged the accused in District Jail Jammu (Amphala).
The arrested individuals, identified as Manpreet, son of Popinder Singh, a resident of Dardapora, Baramula (currently residing in Raipur Satwari, Jammu), and Surjeet Singh, son of Fauja Singh, from Tral, Kashmir (currently residing in Belicharana, Jammu), were produced before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate (Electricity) Jammu.
They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 420 (Cheating), 511 (Attempt to commit offence), 465 (Forgery), 466 (Forgery of documents), 467 (Forgery of valuable security), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (Using forged document as genuine), and 120-B (Criminal conspiracy).
The case was registered at Police Station Crime Branch Jammu after a written complaint from the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Jammu.
The complaint revealed that the accused had forged signatures of the Assistant Commissioner (Migration Relief) Jammu in order to obtain cash aid and other relief packages intended for migrants.
The investigation, led by a Deputy SP rank officer, was conducted in a highly professional manner, resulting in the identification and arrest of the two individuals involved.
SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed the completion of the investigation for FIR No. 73/2016 under the aforementioned sections and stated that the challan has been produced before the court for judicial determination.
The Crime Branch has emphasized its commitment to taking strict action against such fraudulent activities and ensuring that justice is served.
