CAPD employee held for black-marketing of 1,002 bags ration

DODA: Police on Sunday arrested one employee of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution ( CAPD) Department and seized 1,002 bags of Govt ration from Bhatyas area of Doda District.
According to reports, Gandoh Police seized 501 quintals of wheat and rice in 1002 bags of CAPD ration from two private shops at Bhatyas in Chilly Pingal Tehsil of Distt Doda.
“Acting on a specific information, a police party led by SHO Gandoh Tariq Naik raided two shops belonging to Abdul Latief and Ghulam Mustafa in market of Bhatyas and recovered 672 bags of rice and 330 bags of wheat,” SDPO Gandoh Bhushan Kumar Ganjoo said.
“501 quintal of ration seized from a private shops was meant for the public of Bhatyas area but was reportedly being sold in open market, the storekeeper of CAPD Abdul Rasheed Zarger has been arrested,” SDPO Gandoh said adding that we have initiated an inquiry and some more arrests are expected soon as it seems to be a big nexus of dwindling Govt ration in open market.
Meanwhile, police sealed both the shops and lodged an FIR 27/2016 under section 409, 511,120-B RPC.
When contacted TSO Gandoh Suresh Kumar said that “The storekeeper was at Jammu to attend some ailing relative and keys of the store were with him when the supply came that is he reportedly requested someone to unload the ration in private shops”.
“As of now police has seized the ration and we have also started a departmental enquiry to ascertain the facts”, TSO added.
