Cache of explosive materials recovered

Srinagar: Security forces on Saturday busted a militant hideout and recovered a cache of explosive materials in Bandipora District of north Kashmir, police said.
The hideout was busted during a joint operation by the army and police in Bhoothu Nallah area of the town, 55 kms from here, a police spokesman said.He said the recoveries made from the hideout included four cylinder plastic jars containing explosive materials, one RPG booster, three RPG rockets and 234 AK rounds.
However, no one was arrested during the operation, the spokesman said, adding a case was registered and efforts were on to nab the militants.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, based in LKG, under Romeo Force carried out a joint operation with Police on Saturday. A team of one officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer and 24 Jawans alongwith four Jawans of SOG carried out search in general area of Gani based on specific inputs.
After prolonged search of the area an old hideout was discovered leading to recovery of cache consisting of 320 rounds of AK-47/Pika ammunition, one AK Magazine, one GPS, three Chinese grenade, 11 pencil cell, 10 M fuze wire and 20 M brass wire.
According to a report from Poonch, a party of Police Station Manjakote under the supervision of SHO Police Station Manjakote Inspr. Sadqat Hussain along with 43 RR launched a search operation in Kakore Forest under the jurisdiction of Police Station Manjakote and recovered the arms/ ammunition from a hideout.
The recovery include one rifle AK-47, 212 rounds of AK, 223 PIKA rounds, eight magazines AK-47, one antenna I/com, two VHF sets, one Thruway set, one mobile phone, one compass, two binocular small, one charger, one dagger, one I/Com(Jen). The recovered items are lying with Police Station Manjakote. Further investigation has been taken up. (PTI)
