Bypolls an opportunity for people to show anger: Mir
STATE TIMES NEWS
Srinagar: Congress on Sunday said the bypolls to two Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir has provided an opportunity to people to demonstrate their anger against the PDP-BJP Government.
“The by-elections have given an opportunity to the people to demonstrate their anger against the ruling dispensation in the State. People should reject the PDP candidates as it will be the right answer to the PDP and the RSS,” said PCC chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir, addressing election meetings at Khanabal and Damal Khushi Pora in south Kashmir’s Anantnag.
He also said that people should defeat the “divisive” forces and those doing the “politics of exploitation”.
Mir, a candidate of Congress and National Conference (NC) alliance for the Anantnag LS seat, blamed the ruling PDP for “mass discontent and alienation” among the people and asked them not to get influenced by “false propaganda” being spread by the PDP aiming to garner support for their candidates. PDP, while sacrificing its principles, has played with the emotions of people on certain sensitive issues for the sake of power, he alleged.
He said the ruling dispensation has lost the people’s trust.
“I urge the people to defeat the divisive and politics of exploitation on the part of ruling dispensation, which has miserably failed on all fronts. The defeat of PDP would amount to defeating the communal agenda of the RSS-BJP.
“The need of the hour is to show the PDP that it can no longer take for granted the people’s urges and aspirations. The ruling dispensation has lost the people’s trust,” he said.
