Was Burhan killed in ‘fake’ encounter, asks Pawan

JAMMU: Independent MLA from Udhampur Assembly segment Pawan Gupta on Monday urged the BJP-PDP government to clarify whether Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed in a ‘fake encounter’ or not.
Referring to the statement made by Mehbooba Mufti in her reply to the adjournment motion earlier in the day, Pawan Gupta said, the Chief Minister today informed the State Assembly that if permission was sought from the Chief Minister, fake encounters would never have happened.
He also said, “If we start making assessment of collateral damage before encounters and terror strikes like Akhnoor, Nagrotra, Uri and Pampore would keep happening”. He urged the Chief Minister and the alliance government to come clean.
Exposing the divergent view points of the alliance partners, Pawan Gupta said senior BJP Minister in the centre and local MP Dr Jitendra Singh had claimed Burhan Wani was a dreaded terrorist and here the alliance partners had given different statements. He said it is creating confusion in the minds of people.
“It would be better if the government clarifies its position over the same”.
When cornered by the BJP legislators in the house, Pawan alleged the alliance partners are living in the grey area. “They do not know how to proceed”, he added.
