Burglar arrested, stolen gold worth Rs 4.5 lakh recovered

JAMMU: Police arrested a notorious thieve and recovered gold ornaments and other stolen items worth lakhs of rupees from his possession.
“In continuation to Operation Meghdoot a notorious thief was arrested and gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh were recovered from his possession,” police spokesperson said on Friday.
According to police, a written complaint was lodged by Usha Rani, wife of Shrimoni Sharma, resident of Jaalu Chak that they had gone to attend function of relatives and when they came back she found that the locks of her house broken and some one had stolen gold weighing about 15 Tolas.
On receipt of this information, a case vide FIR No 18/2016 under sections 454 and 380 RPC was registered at Police Station Gangyal, police official said adding that during the investigation one Tushar Sharma, son of Kamal Sharma, resident of Shiv Nagar Kunjwani was taken into custody and recovered the gold weighing 15 Tolas from his possession.
Police official added that the arrest was made after strenuous efforts by Inspector Aejaz Wani SHO Police Station Gangyal under the supervision of SDPO Gandhi Nagar Rafiq Manhas and SP City South Sandeep Choudhary.
More recoveries are likely as the accused has confessed to more burglaries, police said.
It is expected that more cases of thefts will be solved during the ongoing investigations, police added.
