SRINAGAR: Dr Shehnaz Ganai MLC on Friday criticised the interim budget for 2016-17 and alleged that the government had failed to address the demands of various sections of society.
While discussing budget in the Legislative Council, she said that the Budget 2016 as an attempt to confuse common people in the garb of gimmick and lack of orientation. She mentioned that the budget lacks the road map for rehabilitating the people living near border and actual Line of Control, and there is no mention of providing five Marlas of land to such families despite the fact that the resolution in this behalf has already been passed by the Legislative Council.
There is no mention of the recent announcement of 5kg food grains under Mufti Mohd Sayeed Food entitlement Scheme to NFSA beneficiaries, in the budget, Ganai said adding that “This budget is an attempt to confuse people in the garb of gimmick, which has no orientation. It is hollow and anti-poor. The budget presented by PDP-BJP coalition is a bitter-sweet pill for the common man, and it has impacted common man’s spending and savings plans.”
The debt burden of the State had gone up drastically and the budget had not responded to the demands of 61,000 casual and daily rated employees of the State who had been protesting across the State.
