BSF jawan slips to death near LoC

Jammu: A BSF jawan on Thursday slipped and fell down a high altitude mountainous belt during his operational duty along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.
BSF Constable Gurwinder Singh, while on operational duty at forward location at a high altitude area at LoC of Saujian sector of Poonch, inadvertently slipped and fell 1,300 meters down in a deep nallah this morning, a senior BSF officer said.
He was immediately rescued by a security party which rushed him to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries enroute, the official said, adding that Singh had suffered serious head injuries.
“BSF lost a young and brave soldier”, he said, adding that Singh belonged to Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
