JAMMU: A Border Security Force head constable on Monday allegedly torched his third ‘wife’ to death and later jumped in front of a train in Kathua District.
“A Head Constable of BSF identified as Neelam Kumar, 42, son of Tej Ram, resident of village Seswan, Chadwal, Kathua was found dead on Monday morning at the railway track,” police said.
This morning at around 6:45 AM, Police Post Chadwal was informed by Sarpanch Seswan telephonically that one male body was lying near the railway line. It was identified as of Neelam Kumar, serving in BSF 97 BN.
Police said that before suicide he had murdered a lady (name and address not known) and set her on fire.
“The lady was torched to death and her identity is being ascertained,” police added.
They said that the first wife of the Constable was murdered by his elder brother while his second wife is serving in police department and posted in Jammu.
“As per locals, the lady burnt to death, was not legal wife of the Constable, but she used to claim that she had married him,” police said.
They said a case under relevant sections has been registered and investigations started.
