JAMMU: Two British Teaching Assistants on Friday joined KC Public School under British Council’s ‘Generation UK-India’ Programme.
“The programme is applicable in schools in India which are accredited as members of the International School Award (ISA) Programme of the Council,” a handout issued by the KCPS on Friday said.
Teaching Assistants Suzanne Henry, 25, hailing from outside London and is a graduate in Human Rights and Law and James Richardson from Manchester will work at KCPS for two months
and would undertake project work with the children
of both senior and
junior wings of the school, it mentioned.
Both teachers would also work with children in terms of their skills in spoken English through drama and speech.
Before joining KCPS, they attended a special orientation session organised by the British Council along with Tamana Pandohi, a senior faculty member of KCPS, deputed to receive them at Delhi and bring them to Jammu.
Raju Chowdhary, Chairman of KC Educational Society, welcomed the Teaching Assistants from UK in a special meeting and wished them well as visiting teachers to the school.
He expressed the hope that their experience of teaching Indian children at KCPS would go a long way in shaping their career as teachers.
He also hoped that they were quite comfortable in the accommodation provided to them in the Guest Rooms at KC Sports Club adjacent to the school.
