BR Sharma re-elected president of Mountaineering body

JAMMU: Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development, B.R Sharma was re-elected President of Mountaineering Association of J and K in an election meeting held at Jammu Club, here on Monday.
Yogeshwar Kumar of J and K Mountaineering and Allied Sports Club, Reasi and Khurshid Ahmad Laigroo of Glacier Trekking and Mountaineering Club, Anantnag were elected as Vice President for Jammu and Kashmir Provinces respectively.
Ram Khajuria of Tawi Trekkers J and K was unanimous choice for the post of General Secretary. Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary of Tawi Trekkers and a National Judge in Sport Climbing and Shakeel Ahmad of Kashmir Magsshaff Trekking and Mountaineering Club, Srinagar got the mandate for the posts of Joint Secretary for Jammu and Kashmir respectively.
Sushil Singh of Ibex Adventure Club, Samba was elected as Treasurer of the Association. The six executive members included Everester, Ram Singh Slathia, Everester Sajad Haider, an eminent woman mountaineer, Stanzin Youthog, Jameel Mustaffa of Sunridges Trekking and Mountaineering Club, Pulwama, Rakesh Goswami of Shivalik Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Club, Jammu and Sonam Sidharth.
Joint Secretary of J and K State Sports Council, Siddharth Sharma acted as observer while Mehraj Ud Din Naqqash, a founder member of the Association, was the returning officer of the election.
B.R Sharma on the occasion stressed upon the members to dedicate themselves for the cause of mountaineering and work candidly and tirelessly to achieve the aim of promoting mountaineering and sport climbing to every nook and corner of the state. Every effort shall be made to provide standard infrastructure and modern training facilities to the mountaineers and sport climbers of the state, he announced.
To give national exposure to the talented sport climbers of the state the Association would organise Junior Masters National Sport Climbing Championship next year, he declared.
