Dear Editor,
The incompetence of surgeons/ health officials is the main cause of botched-up surgeries. The seeds of incompetence are sown when students are admitted to medical colleges on other considerations than merit and the harvest is reaped when such persons are selected as doctors/surgeons, again on other considerations. This does not affect politicians as they can afford treatment abroad, but the common man suffers.
