Border issue

0 73

No doubt Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s China visit has generated an euphoria of better business relations and media giving wide coverage the reality is that when it comes to confidence building India does not matter to China but China matters much more to India. The diplomatic dynamics what India and China have are just opposite of the ideologies which both the countries carry. Under such an environment finding a solution to age-old Arunachal Pradesh border issue will always remain unsolved. For too long both the countries have gone on with cynical claim that China’s ties with Pakistan are not aimed at India or that border dispute is left over from history and is best left for the time to solve. The simple fact Sino-Indian relations are now far too important to be allowed to fester as they have. It is for India the relations are more important than China itself. But there has been some positive forward movement in the economic and people-to-people relations. With China entrepreneurs wanting to become partners in ‘Make in India’ dream of Modi it could be one changing factor which could speed up and strengthen the mistrust factor and turn it into an economic advantage with both countries sharing the cake of progress equally. The boundary issue has been a sticking point in relation between two major Asian countries and both making efforts to settle it through discussion would be the most welcome one. As we know disagreements are not going to resolve the issues but by revisiting the trade and business routes both nations can benefit each other. Allowing time as leveller it has to be seen in coming years will the Sino-Indian trade relations grow or the frozen status, which has widen the trade deficit, will prevail.
