JAMMU: Social activist and former Member of Citizen’s Advisory Committee constituted by J&K Government Sukesh C. Khajuria on Tuesday sought for booking National Conference patron and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah under sedition charges for extending wholehearted support to Hurriyat Conference and separatists’ movement longing ‘Azadi’.
In a letter addressed to SHO Police Station Jammu City for initiating aforesaid action, Sukesh cited excerpts from Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s controversial speech which he made in Kashmiri language at the 111th Birth Anniversary celebration of his father Sheikh Abdullah on 5th December 2016 at Naseem Bagh near Hazratbal Srinagar. Sukesh alleged that the former Chief Minister openly sided with the separatists particularly Hurriyat Conference and extended complete support to the separatists in their so called freedom movement.
Giving more details in his communiqué to SHO Jammu City, Sukesh further alleged that Farooq even not hesitated to accord backing of his party and workers to Hurriyat’s progression seeking Azadi. He further accused NC Patron for persuading NC workers to fight for the cause of Hurriyat. Alleging that the utterances made by Farooq Abdullah on aforesaid day constitute the offence of sedition which is punishable under Section 124-A RPC, Sukesh demanded that a formal case should be registered against Farooq Abdullah.
