It is certainly a reverse position taken by the BJP since its Jan Sangh days when it fought for one flag, one head of state and one Constitution for all the states in the Union. In view of this development, the BJP would do its best to help the State return to the path of peace and development. A sense of victimhood existed in Kashmir owing to lack of economic and social development and ineffectiveness governance. Given the sense of alienation among people, especially youth, it calls for greater political engagement. Excessive use of force will fuel further resentment. Dialogue is the only way out of this complex issue.
