JAMMU: Ahead of taking oath Dr Nirmal Singh, who is set to become deputy Chief Minister for the second consecutive time, on Saturday asserted that the upcoming BJP-PDP alliance government will not compromise by giving long rope to those who raise anti-India and pro Pak slogans.
“During our previous term in office we dealt sternly with those raising pro Pak slogans and flags in the Kashmir Valley and this time too we will not compromise with these elements”, Dr Singh told reporters on the sidelines of the party’s State Executive Meeting.
He said the focus of the new government will remain on implementing Rs 80,000 Crore package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Singh admitted that the expectations of people of the State were too high and in the first innings they failed to come up to their expectations but expressed hope this time the alliance partners would make all out efforts to address people’s grievances and take all such measures needed for their welfare.
He said the State, reeling under militancy, border firing from Pakistan, rehabilitation of refugees, will get top priority and issues concerning these people would be addressed to make difference in their lives.
Commenting on the issue of distribution of portfolios between the alliance partners, Dr Singh said when the new government will take oath the portfolios of the Council of Ministers would be made public.
“Our main agenda would remain implementation of Agenda of Alliance in the State in the next five years”, Singh added.
He said the BJP leaders were still holding discussions to finalise the names of party nominees to be included in the Council of Ministers.
Dr Singh while responding to the questions over rift within the alliance partners clarified there were no differences between the two. He said, “We wanted to discuss certain issues with them and they are always there before finalising the modalities of formation of new government in the State”.
