JAMMU: The high velocity winds city and untimely rains have caught Power Development Department (PDD) and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department unaware leading to a major power and water crisis.
Leave aside scheduled power cuts, unscheduled power cuts, especially during night hours; voltage fluctuations and frequent tripping have made the situation unbearable for the residents with mercury remaining at high. The city is facing acute water shortage daily,” this was stated by former Minister and Senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla while addressing protesters at Digiana Pulli.
The residents of Digiana and its adjoining areas have blocked Digiana Road and against the water and power crisis the area was facing.
Bhalla pacified the protesters and called the Executive Engineer, who reached the spot and assured the former minister that needful will be done in shortest possible time.
Bhalla pointed out that unprecedented power and water crisis in the whole State in General and Jammu province in particular was result of the failure on the part of present government. He said that situation in Jammu province has virtually turned out of control due to severe shortage of drinking water and worst ever power crisis during scorching heat.
Among those present on the occasion include Madam Suman Choudhary, Bansi Lal, Sant Kumar, Ashok Kumar,Arvind Kumar, Kamlesh Kumara, Sudesh Devi Dayavanti, Amarnath.
