BJP MPs, MLCs announce Rs 50 lakh for Bar Office building

JAMMU: Member Parliament Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member Parliament Lok Sabha, Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLC Romesh Arora and MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa visited J&K High Court Complex and announced Rs 50 lakh for construction of Bar Office building in the Court Complex.
The public representatives visited Court complex, Janipur on the request of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, to make them aware about the problems being faced by the Bar members. They took the first hand stock of the developmental work to be undertaken in the Court complex.
While speaking on the occasion, Jugal Kishore Sharma hailed role of the J&K Court Bar Association, Jammu and said that the Association besides taking up issues pertaining to its members also raised issues of public importance from time to time and always remain in forefront to safeguard the rights of the people of Jammu region. He further assured that he will provide maximum funds for the infrastructural development in the Bar as and when required.
Jugal announced Rs 10 lakh from his MPLAD fund for construction of Bar Office building in the Court Complex.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, in his address, said that the Courts are considered as temples of Justice but sometimes due to lengthy procedures and frequent adjournments, people suffer due to delayed Justice. He appeals to the members of the Bar to help and render free legal aid to poor and downtrodden.
Manhas also announced an amount Rs 20 lakh from his MPLAD fund for the construction of building for office of the Bar Association.
MLCs Ramesh Arora and Charanjeet Singh Khalsa also announced an amount of Rs 10 lakh each from their CDF for construction of the aforesaid building.
The public representatives also visited the spot where the office building will be constructed.
Senior Advocate B.S Slathia, President, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, expressed gratitude to all the above public representatives for announcement of the funds for construction of office building of the Association.
Sachin Gupta, Vice President, while presenting vote of thanks, requested them for commencement of the insurance and pension schemes for the members of the Association like other states of the country.
Prem Sadotra, General Secretary of the Association sought stipend for the newly enrolled young lawyers in the initial years of practice in order to encourage and motivate them at grass root level to stay and continue in legal profession. He further requested them to take up the matter of increasing of strength of High Court Judges with the Union Ministry of Law to lower down the pendency of cases in the courts.
