STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: National Conference Students Union (NCSU) on Tuesday held a protest against proposed acquisition of land and subsequent relocation of population to develop an army firing range at Kalith.
They alleged that notification of firing range in Kalith is arbitrary and illogical.
Talking to media persons, Provincial Senior Vice-President NCSU, Sahil Singh Jamwal sought from the Governor N.N Vohra to take order back of shifting firing range which was issued to the people of Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour.
“The order was not issued publicly and many of the people of that area are unaware of any legal order issued by the authority,” he said.
Lambasting the BJPs leaders, Sahil said that MLA Akhnoor and MLA Khour are befooling the people by saying that they don’t have any knowledge about this order despite it was issued by BJP- PDP cabinet. He demanded rollback of order of shifting of firing range which was issued to the people of Akhnoor, Jourian and Khour. He added that this is a very critical issue in which 140 villages and more than two lakh people of Akhnoor area will suffer. Others present were Mathur, Shivum, Atul, Akash, Vikas, Rahil, Lovish, Sajal, Nago, Avi, Vishal, Vishav, Rajat and Pankaj.
