BJP led Govt answerable to border people: Harsh Dev Singh
STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: JKNPP Chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh expressed concern over the escalation of tension on the borders and the creation of war like situation there resulting in untold sufferings for the border residents. He said that Pakistan’s persistent and violent posturing during the last couple of months had resulted into large scale migration, loss of precious lives besides extensive damage caused to cattle, houses and standing crops. He said that with Pakistani Rangers hell-bent upon unleashing gunfire and unprovoked mortar shelling, the border residents in several thousands were dislocated and made to suffer untold miseries.
Strongly flaying the Central and State Governments for utterly in-adequate and poor response to deal with the crisis where thousands of families had been uprooted, he said that the affected families were highly critical of the respective governments for their apathy and callous approach in mitigating their woes and concerns. Ridiculing the claims of the BJP Government of adopting tough stand against Pakistan, he said that it was the same BJP which had attributed Pakistan’s misadventures in the past to UPA’s diplomatic failures. He regretted that the Pakistan’s aggressive posturing multiplied manifold during BJP rule thus making a mockery of their tall pronouncements and highly inflated claims. He held the union government responsible as well as answerable to the people residing on International Border and Line of Control for the untold miseries being faced by them.
Condemning Pakistan’s highly violent posturing, Harsh Dev said that the intensity of ceasefire violations had increased gradually after the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited India during the oath taking ceremony of Modi’s Government. He said that it is something similar to the Pakistan’s Kargil misadventure which was followed by the historical goodwill visit of Atal Behari Vajpayee to Lahore in February 1999. “Pakistan had always responded to Indian goodwill gestures with contempt and malice”, lamented Singh.
Cautioning Pakistan of serious consequences, Harsh Dev Singh said that precarious situation in Pakistan is gradually headed towards a dangerous denouement. He said that the Pak Government has been unable to deal effectively with its internal crisis with the likelihood of a military coup being openly discussed again. He said that Pakistan can’t survive as a coherent nation unless Pak army discontinues its attempts to destabilise India through its proxy war and stops its medaling in Pakistan’s Politics. He urged upon the international community to take cognisance of Pakistan’s violent posturing and large scale human rights violations on the Indian side of Line of Control and International Border.
Strongly condemning Pakistani misadventures, Harsh Dev Singh said that India needs to tread carefully and not fall in the Pakistani trap and salvage them. He said that the India Government has got to ensure safety of our border population giving at the same time a mouthful to violent posturing Pakistan. He further called upon the Union and State Government to provide a permanent solution for the rehabilitation of border migrants who are often displaced due to frequent border shelling.
