BJP completes one year; sanctions projects worth Rs 1399 cr

LEH: BJP Government headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed one year in the office on Tuesday. In this regard, a mega gathering called Jan Sampark Utsav was held at Polo ground Leh. Union Minister for Planning (Independent Charge) and MoS Defence Government of India Rao Inderjit Singh was Chief Guest while Minister for Cooperative Government of J and K Tsering Dorjay was Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Private Secretary of Thupstan Chhewang MP, Jamyang Tsering Namgail said that Chhewang has succeeded in sanctioning projects worth Rs 1399 crore for Ladakh during the first year of BJP led Government.
Giving details of the achievements of Chhewang, Jamyang said that major projects sanctioned include 28 roads under PMGSY, maintenance of NH-01 Srinagar-Leh highway, Pashmina promotion programme, construction of NH301 Sanku-Padum road, special development package for Line of Actual Control villages of Changthang, flood management programme, special package for SNM Hospital Leh, construction of 498 Km Bilaspur-Manali-Leh railway line to directly link Leh with New Delhi, Rs 20 lakh per annum for each village Panchayat, Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects Kargil (2000 MW) and Leh (5000 MW) and social development works done including opening of Yarma-Gonbo Inner Line Permit for foreign tourists , inauguration of Nimoo-Basgo Hydel Project and Northern Grid by the PM, inauguration of Pashmina Wool Development Plant in Leh by Minister for Textile Santosh Gangwar, decision taken to open three more Battalions in Ladakh Scout, relaxation in educational qualification and physical requirements in recruitment for Central Forces (ITBP, SSB, BSF, ITBP), Leh-Manali Highway to be built in phase wise and preference will be given to local contractors, LPG Cylinder subsidy extended from 6 to 12 and sanctioning of 28 BSNL mobile towers.
Speaking on the occasion, Rao Inderjit Singh vowed to fulfill all the promises made by the BJP. He informed that Modi government had decided to open three more Ladakh Scout Battalions to create employment. He assured to include Bhoti in the 8th Schedule, opening of Kailash Mansarovar through Demjok, giving deemed University status to Central Institute of Buddhist Studies and construction of Zojila Tunnel.
