BASOHLI: Terming the proposed rehabilitation policy for surrendered militants as obnoxiously disastrous, Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP Chairman and former Minister, cautioned the ruling alliance to refrain from implementing it in the overall interests of the State and nation.
He said that payment of Rs. 6 lakh into the fixed deposit a/c of surrendered militant with a cash dole of Rs. 4,000 per month alongwith cost of the arms and ammunition was an obhorrable proposition that needed to be kept in abeyance. It could have a dampening effect upon the morale of our security forces besides hurting the national sentiment and fuelling militancy in the state, said Harsh.
He was speaking in various public meetings in Dhanna village of Basohli Constituency and Kootah village of Hiranagar constituency today.
Addressing huge gatherings, Harsh accused the ruling BJP-PDP alliance of reviving militancy in the State and infusing a new life into the otherwise sagging and dormant separatist movement through its appeasement polices.
“The unprecedented move of withdrawal of FIRs against 9,000 stone pelters, jobs and compensation for the NoKs of deceased stone pelters, vocation of lands from army, FIRs against armed forces besides amnesty for those preaching secession and indulging in hate India campaign had emboldened the separatists and other anti-nationals thus resulting in further deterioration of law and order in the State”. He regretted that while the PDP was pursuing its avowed agenda and a policy of pampering separatists, the BJP was shamelessly acting as a petty accomplice with it deliriously unmindful of its pre-election jingoistic rhetoric. He said that having failed to get the minutes of noxious policy over the settlement of nomads rescinded, it had further allowed deviation in the centrally sponsored Border Area Development Programme (BADP) by allocating Rs. 5.40 crore under the scheme for villages inhabited by nomads including Gujjars and Bakerwals in Kathua District alone.
