Birthday of Swami Vivekananda celebrated as National Youth Day

KATHUA : The Birthday of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated as National Youth day in different parts of the State on Monday.
A function was organised in the Chanakya Hall in the campus of Vivekananda College of Education in which Prof Banwari Lal Principal Govt Degree College, Kathua was the Chief Guest. Other eminent dignitaries who graced the occasion were Prof. P.K Rao , Vijay Sharma a renowned humorous poet, Dr. Sudarshan Kumar Gupta Chairman of the College and Dr. Anju Sharma Principal of the College.
In his welcome address Dr. Sudarshan Kumar Gupta said that an ascetic’s life is meant for social service without any ambition or personal goals in mind. He said that if people want to see God, then they have to serve mankind and the human face of the Almighty.
Programme started with lightening of Lamp by the dignitaries. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the students which included welcome song, Dogri dance and Giddha which were highly appreciated by the audience.
In his address Chief Guest congratulated the management, principal, staff and students and appreciated them for organising such a grand function on the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti . He said that the college is excelling in both academic as well as in co-curricular spheres.
Programme ended with singing of National Anthem and vote of thanks by Dr Anju .

The Birthday of Swami Vivekananda was also celebrated as National Youth Day in Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education, Kathua. The portrait of Swamiji was garlanded and floral tributes paid by Anu Dogra (Chairperson), Principal, staff members and students of the College.
The contributions of Swamiji as a spiritual leader, educationist, philosopher and a personality who inspired youth of all generations in the country were remembered. A seminar on the Educational Philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and its impact on the educational policies was also conducted in which twelve students of the college participated. They threw light on the educational thoughts of Swamiji such as physical education, education of women, education for concentration, religious education and education which empowers the youth to stand on their feet.

UDHAMPUR

A youth convention was organised by Srimat Vivekananda Youth Forum (SVYF) at Govt. Higher Secondary School Ghordi on the occasion of National Youth Day .
In the said convention speakers highlighted the contributions of Swami Vivekanand Ji towards the nation. They stressed that youth should follow the foot print of Swami Vivekanand Ji.
Besides Vishal Sharma President SVYF, Swami Nirintramanda Secretary RKM , Jammu and Rajesh Kumar Joint Secretary also addressed the gathering.
NOWSHERA

National Youth Day was celebrated in Government Degree College Nowshera on the occasion of Birth Day of Swami Vivekanand Ji in which newly elected MLA Ravinder Raina was the Chief Guest.
Dr. G.S Rakwal, Principal GDC, Nowshera presided over the function. Six students from different institutions spoke on the occasion out of which Simran Bala of New National Public School Stood secured the first position, Sanam Deep of Christ School and Mehak Sharma of Third Millenium Public School stood second and third respectively.
Swami Vivekananda, known in his pre-monastic life as Narendranath Datta, was born in an affluent family in Kolkata on 12th January 1863. His father, Vishwanath Datta, was a successful attorney with interests in a wide range of subjects and his mother, Bhuvaneshwari Devi, was endowed with deep devotion, strong character and other qualities. A precocious boy, Narendra excelled in music, gymnastics and studies. By the time he graduated from Calcutta University, he had acquired a vast knowledge of different subjects, especially Western philosophy and history. Born with a yogic temperament, he used to practise meditation even from his boyhood, and was associated with Brahmo Movement for some time.
Ravinder Raina and Prof. Anupama Sharma laid emphasis on the life History, teachings and contribution of Swami Vivekanand .The Jury Members consisted of Prof. Joginder Singh and Prof. Naveen Sharma, Prof. Meenakshi Gangal conducted the proceedings of the occasion.
