JAMMU: An International Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Biomedical Rese-arch in the New Millennium’ is being held on 29th and 30th November, 2016 by the Department of Biochemistry in association with Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences at Government Medical College Jammu. Eminent scientists and doctors from across the country and abroad are expected to attend the conference.
Dr. A.S. Bhatia, Organizing Secretary of the BIOCON-2016, revealed that the main objective of the conference is to bring together basic research scientists and clinicians on a common platform to foster in depth discussions among them for better understanding and improving therapeutic and diagnostic technology for various diseases affecting humanity.
Special Guest Lecture will be delivered by Prof. J.F.G (Joski) Bunders (Director, Professor Biology and Society) Head Department Biology and Society VU University, Amsterdam, Netherlands on ‘Prioritizing Biomedical research from a patient perspective’. Prof Hari S Sharma (Founder President) Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences Department of Pathology VUmc, University Medical Center De Boelelaan Amsterdam, Netherlands will speak on ‘Angiogenesis and Tissue Remodeling in the Heart and Lung Diseases’ and Dr Vlrendra Misra Sr, Cardiologist Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Abu Dhabi, UAE will speak on ‘Myths & Facts : Coronary Artery Disease and Prevention’ in addition to scientific deliberations by Prof. Shyam S Chauhan Professor and Head Department of Biochemistry All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Rajendra Prasad Head Department of Biochemistry from PGI Chandigarh, Prof Abbas Ali Mahdi Professor & Head Department of Biochemistry, King George’s Medical University Lucknow, Dr V.K Kutala Additional Professor (Biochemistry) Dept of clinical Pharrnacology & Therapeutics ‘Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Punjagutta, Hyderabad, Dr Mridula Svlahajan Head Department of Biochemistry for GMC Amritsar will also delivered guest lecture. Prof. R.K Garg Professor and Head Department of Neurology & Dean – Research Kings George Medical University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow will speak on “Vitamin D and CNS Tuberculosis’, Dr R.K Singh Retired Senior Professor and Head Biochemistry Department, King George’s Medical University Lucknow, Dr Dinesh Puri Director Professor and Head of Department Institution UCMS (University College of Medical Sciences) Delhi, Prof. Bashir Ahmed Ganai Director Center of Research for Development (CORD) & Head Department of Environmental Sciences University of Kashmir, Srinagar, Prof. Sabhiya Majid Prof. and Head Department of Biochemistry Govt Medical College Srinagar, Prof. Narsingh Verma KGMC Lucknow , Prof. Subir Kumar Das Professor and Head Department of Biochemistry College of Medicine & JNM Hospital WBUHS, Kalyani, Nadia West Bengal, Prof. Eiiza Chakraborty Meerut, Dr Nilima Verma Dean from NABL will also speak on the occasion.
About 300 Doctors from all the neighboring State are expected to attend the conference. The Conference has been registered with ‘the Jammu and Kashmïr State Medical Council for eight plus three credit hours which will help the junior doctors in their academic achievements.
Dr A.S Bhatia, Head Department of Biochemistry Government Medical College Jammu disclosed that this scientific bonanza will give a golden opportunity to the faculty, Post-Graduate and Under-Graduate students to learn the emerging new techniques in the field of diagnosis and treatment of various diseases along with getting them familiar with the latest in the field of research. Bali Bhagat, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Aeisa, Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Sat Paul Sharma BJP President J&K & MLA Jammu west, Dr H.K Bhandari Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, Danesh Rana Inspector General of Police and Dr Zahid Gillani Principal and Dean Government Medical College will grace the opening ceremony.
