KATHUA: Haryana wrestler Bhupinder defeated Devinder of Almgir Akhara of Punjab to win 85th Ramkote Kesari Dangal title, organised by the Dangal Committee Ramkote at Ramkote, Kathua.
The title bout between these two wrestlers remained undecided even after 25 minutes long contest, the bout was decided in five minute extra time on point basis.
The winner got Rs 45,000 prize money presented by Chief Guest Jeevan Lal, MLA Bani who was accompanied by Tehsildar Ramkote, SHO Ramkote, in presence of Madan Gopal, Chairman, Rajesh Gupta, President and Vinay Gupta Vice President of the Committee.
This historical Dangal is being organized every year ever since 1930.
In all, 75 bouts were decided in the day-long Dangal among huge crowd of more than 25,000 spectators.
The second main bout was won by Amit of Delhi defeating Sunny of Lilan. Amit got Rs 21,000 while Sunny was presented with Rs 15,000. The third and fourth main bouts remained undecided and were shared by Sukha of Rajasthan and Lali of Garhshankar and Sukh of Garhshanker and Kala of Dina Nagar respectively. The fifth main bout between Fiza of J and K Billawar and Gunga of Lilan was won by Gunga while sixth bout remained undecided between Narinder of Ajnala and Buta of Almgir. Bittu of Delhi beat Ramesh of Haryana in seventh bout.
Members of Organising Committee and technical officials who helped in smooth conduct of Dangal were Sarpanch Budhi Singh, Vijay Gupta, Sardanand Deonia, Om Parkash, Kaka Kharka, Rajinder Dogra, Vinod Spolia, Dr Sat Paul and Sardari Lal.
Emerging wrestler Shiva of Dina Nagar and Inayat of Manwal and Sanju of Banaras mesmerized the public with their outstanding and unique skills with huge applaud and appreciation.
At the end the committee extended vote of thanks to local administration and all the wrestlers who made this event a great success and extended open invitation to them for participating in Ramkote Kesri 2016 to be held on 16th June, 2016.
