Bhadarwah, Gandoh, Kishtwar observe shutdown against arrest of youths
STATE TIMES NEWS
BHADARWAH: To lodge their protest against the administration for harassing and arresting people including women and also to show solidarity with Kashmiri people, members of particular community observed a shutdown in Bhadarwah, Kishtwar and Gandoh on Friday .
Shops, other business establishments and some private schools of particular community remained closed, however government schools, offices and banks are functioning normally and traffic was plying on the roads as usual.
The shutdown call was given by Anjuman Isalamia Bhadarwah, Anjuman Islamia Gandoh and Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar simultaneously in protest against civil administration and police for arresting and raiding the houses of innocent people including women and to also show solidarity with Kashmiri people, who are being subjected to worst kind of Human Rights Violations since last 56 days.
“We have again given a call for shutdown today, to give a strong message to the State Government in general and district administration in particular, that they cannot bully or intimidate us to stop not to show our resentment against innocent Kashmiri killings by invoking draconian PSA or raiding the houses of innocent people,” said Anjuman Islamia, Bhadarwah president, Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.
“To protest peacefully against the human right violations is our democratic right, but instead of appreciating this, that we have not taken law in our hands, government and district administration is trying to pressurise and harass us by invoking PSA against minors and raiding the house of women to arrest them,” alleged Anjuman Islamia President, adding that some communal politicians and RSS backed bureaucrats in district administration are trying to communalise the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of Chenab Valley.
Unrest is fast brewing in Chenab valley, over volatile situation in Kashmir since last 56 days, and generally people are of the opinion that neither the Union and nor the state Government is doing enough to pacify the agitating people and bring back much needed normalcy in Kashmir.
” Earlier they tried to snub Kashmiri people by using brutal force and putting them to worst kind of human rights violations and now they are just trying to buy more time by sending delegations and parliamentarians there. This is nothing more than a futile exercise and an eyewash,” said Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.
“They have been doing these kind of things since long, be it interlocutors or round table conferences. If they are really serious for the permanent solution of Kashmir problem, they should first consider earlier reports and come up with some concrete formula this time without further kidding with Kashmiri sentiments,” he added.
Meanwhile extra columns of police and CRPF forces were deployed at all the sensitive places and near Jamia Masjids of Bhadarwah,Gandoh and Kishtwar.
