Bhadarwah Campus, JU organises symposium on drug abuse

BHADARWAH: Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu on Thursday organised a symposium on Drug Abuse and Role of Youth in mitigating the problems of elders in two different sessions.
Prof G M Bhat , Rector Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Programme started with the welcome address of Dr. Kuljit Singh, Academic Coordinator Bhadarwah campus. Speaking on the occasion he emphasised that we should take care of our elders as they have invested their life on us and also youth should stay away from the drugs as drugs are creating a hole in our society. As an institution, it is our duty to aware the students and society about the burning issues of the society.
Total of 17 students from different departments of Bhadarwah Campus participated in the symposium which was conducted in two sessions one for each topic. In their presentations students gave different insights about the menace of drug abuse and the problems of elders.
Speaking on the occasion Prof G.M Bhat, Chief Guest of the event emphasised that we should always start an improvement for a positive change from ourselves. Because if we are able to make ourselves a better human being then only we can make others. To pay respect to the elders of our society, he announced that Bhadarwah Campus will observe a Buzurg Day annually and shall honour ‘golden agers’.
Dr Subash Chander and Jasleen were the members of jury for both the sessions. Jasleen in her review speech guided the students/participants on various issues related to the delivery of contents.
Poonam was adjudged winner and Sikander as runner up for their presentation on ‘Role of Youth in Mitigating the Problems of Elders’. They both are selected for State level competition. Nitan was adjudged winner and Ruby as runner up for their presentation on ‘Drug Abuse’.
All the stage proceeding were carried by Mohd Imtiaz. Dr Abid Sarver and Bablu Sharma were also present on the occasion. Dr Neeraj presented the formal vote of thanks.
