MENDHAR : Beoparmandal and locals of Mendhar town on Thursday, held a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) and Public Health Engineering (PHE) for non-availability of power and drinking water.
The protesters said that they are given power for six hours in a day and that too with number of cuts adding that power is inevitably required in business matters and as such in the absence of power the businessmen suffer heavy loss. Besides this the annual exams of the children are fast approaching and in certain cases the date sheets have also been issued by the Education Board and non-availability of power affects their studies. They urged the Chief Engineer PDD to look into the case and issue suitable instructions to the officers to provide adequate power.
They also pointed out that there is shortage of drinking water due to damaged mains and heavy leakage of water and asked the Executive Engineer of PHE to visit the affected measures and take immediate remedial areas to ensure regular supply of water.
Prominent among those present in the protest include Ashish alik, Sonu, Sharma, Tazeem Hussain Shah and Satish Chander.
