Benia Min of JKP lifts 9th Kawa Dangal title

KATRA: Benia Min of J and K Police lifted ninth Annual Kawa Kesari Dangal title by defeating Maana Sub Inspector of Punjab Police of Zirkapur Akhara (Chandigarh) in the main that lasted for 21 minutes at Government High School Kawa, Udhampur.
Dangal was organised by Kawa Dangal committee in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President of the Association Shiv Kumar Sharma and Sarpanch Durga Dass Padha.
In all, 62 bouts were played in day-long event.
Former MoS and MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers. Joint Secretary J and K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function. Raj Kumar Buccha and Sunil Badyal were the Guests of Honour. The main bout winner Benia Min was awarded a cash prize of Rs 31,000 while runner-up wrestler Maana was given Rs 20,000.
Second main bout fought between Dinesh of Zirkapur Chandigarh and Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House, Udhampur ended in a draw. Both the wrestlers were jointly awarded with a cash prize of Rs 11,000. Another second bout was fought Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu and Pankaj Rana of Navy of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi which also ended in a draw. Nisar of Doda of J and K Police beat Vikas of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi.
Members and Technical Officials who helped for the conduct of Dangal included Dugra Dass Padha (Sarpanch), Rajinder Singh Katoch, Yov Raj Singh Katoch, Hukam Chand Numberdar, Sat Paul Sharma, Kewal Khajuria, Sudesh Numberdar, Krishan Lal Verma, Madan Lal Sharma (Retd. Headmaster), Vijay Kumar Sharma, Sheikhar Sharma, Gurmeet Singh, Raj Mohd., Basant Ram, Om Parkash Verma, Krishan Lal Verma, Sham Lal, Vachitru and Sudesh Kumar Sharma.
