Bee Enn Hospital conducts 750 free cataract surgeries

JAMMU: Bee Enn General Hospital (BEGH), which has launched the free cataract service in September 2013, has successfully operated 750 patients till date.
Managing Trustee, Kunil Bhalla told reporters that as on date, 850 patients have registered at Bee Enn General Hospital for availing free eye cataract surgery. He said the hospital saw the plight of many senior citizens who needed cataract surgery but could not afford it, so we decided to launch the free cataract service in September 2013.
Patients suffering from cataract problem since several years but with the successful of cataract operation, they are now able to see clearly and their lives have changed, Kunil Bhalla said.
He said Bee Enn General Hospital is always committed to its charitable activities, providing free medical treatment to poor and needy, free Bone Mineral Density (BMD) tests, free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries and now free Eye Cataract Surgery.
Dr. Satish Kumar Gupta (MS Ophthalmology) informed that the aim of Free Eye Cataract Surgery is that if we can give light to those who are in-dark because of poverty, we feel that it is our duty towards society.
“We are taking utmost care for proper hygiene and sterilization. We have restricted to maximum six surgeries in a day. High quality patient care is our concern,” Dr Satish added.
He informed that this service is open to all on a regular basis and any person requiring this surgery can register with the reception of the hospital on any day at a nominal cost of Rs. 200.
There is absolutely no other charge for surgery or consumable required for the surgery, he added.
