Be brave, be human
Dear Editor
J&K’s complex history and its communal, regional sensitivities combined with ‘toxic politics’ was certainly not so grave during the Partition, when West Pakistan refugees had to rush to the adjoining J and K, as is being manufactured and marketed today by vested interests. It is a pity that though these refugees were part of India on 14th August, 1947, today they have nothing. They don’t have the support to create another ‘Israel’ for themselves. It is the bane of Nehru who was frantic to become a world leader to achieve ‘halo’ through the now-failed NAM. At home, he failed to solve any single such human, political or democratic problem which he could have solved with ease. Now, J and K is paying a price. Its democratically elected government must assert itself on all fronts for justice. Be brave, be human. If Modi can’t solve their problem, no successor would, just like his predecessors couldn’t in seven decades. Go ahead and make them Indians and earn their blessings.
