JAMMU: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) expressed concern over the disruption in the power supply to number of units since last 36 hours due to damage occurred to power infrastructure because of heavy rain and wind storm.
“The massive damage was done due to massive growth of eucalyptus trees along with the power supply lines inside the complex as the PDD failed to take effective steps for the branch cutting of trees. In last one month, the massive damage was done to the infrastructure of power supply lines and the department has failed to restore the power supply in time due to non-availability of requisite spare parts and poles in the complex to replace the damaged infrastructure. The department is not taking this issue seriously due to which the industrialists are facing huge financial losses, production losses and machinery breakdown. Even in case of any power break down in the night shift, no one is available to rectify the fault,” the members of BBIA explained.
Industries located in Bari Brahmana are contributing approximately Rs. 120 crore towards the cost of power supplied to industrial area but the department is not serious about the maintenance of regular power supply of the complex due to which the industrial units are suffering very badly, they added.
BBIA appealed to the Dy. Chief Minister and Minister for Power, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh and Industries and Commerce Minister, Chander Parkash to intervene into this matter and issue necessary orders to the concerned officials for providing uninterrupted power supply to industrial sector of Bari Brahmana.
The meeting was attended by Varun Singla Vice President, Ajay Langer, General Secretary and Viraaj Malhota Secretary /Treasurer BBIA.
