Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway reopens after five days

BHADARWAH : After remained closed for five days, the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway(NH1B) was restored for one way traffic on Wednesday morning and hundreds of stranded vehicles carrying passengers and essential commodities were cleared by the authorities.
The traffic on Batote-Doda-Kishtwar National Highway was suspended on Friday evening after 100 meter of road was eroded at Kulgardi near Drabshalla of District Kishtwar, 27 KM from Kishtwar.
According to reports, despite continue efforts by the concerned authorities, the road could not be opened for five days and traffic was allowed for the first time on Wednesday morning after a new road was made by cutting the hill.
DySP Traffic NH1B Aftab Bukhari said that The NH1B has been restored for traffic today but only one-way traffic was allowed to ply between Thathri-Kishtwar Stretch.
“Concerned department worked hard to clear the highway but as of now, we are allowing only stranded vehicles to move. Later, we will allow fresh traffic as well,” DySP Aftab added.
