SAMBA : A large number of residents of Dwarkapuri, Barian including men and women held a protest and blocked the Jammu – Pathankot National Highway in support of their demand for construction of proper water channel to control the rain water which frequently enters their houses. The protesters said that they had approached the administration number of times and explained their problem but no action was taken in this regard and the people continue to suffer every time in the absence of proper water outlet.
The Samba Police pacified the protesters and assured them that their problems will be conveyed to the concerned authorities and that they should open the road but the protesters continued their Dharna. The police then resorted to mild Lathi-charge to disperse the protesters. The road was then opened for traffic.
