Bari Brahmana bags overall trophy in wrestling

JAMMU: The team from Bari Brahmana bagged the overall trophy in District Samba Indian Style Wrestling Championship held at Peer Baba Stadium, Bari Brahmna, near here on Wednesday.
Around 37 wrestlers from the district took part in different weight groups of 50 Kg, 55 Kg, 61 Kg, 67Kg and 75 Kg. Overall Championship was bagged by Tehsil Bari Brahmana.
The competition was held under the overall supervision of General Secretary of J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Bansi Lal Tidyal.
Bouts were officiated by the technical panel comprising Mulkh Raj Sharma, Prem Verma, Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Balkar Singh, Ram Pal Sharma, Baloch Din, Raj Hussian and Captain Karnail Singh and Chambail Singh.
Chairman J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association and NIS Wrestling Coach, Prem Choudhary was Chief Guest, who distributed medals, certificates and trophies among the meritorious wrestlers.
Joint Secretary J and K State Sports Council and President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided. Prithvi Raj Sharma, Yogeshwar Singh, Babishan Singh and Ram Pal Sharma were Guests of Honour.
Earlier, retired SP and veteran wrestler, Sardar Khan of Kathua welcomed the guests while vote of thanks was presented by General Secretary of Samba District Indian Style Wrestling Association, Prem Verma.
The Detailed Results: 50 Kg: Jarnail Singh, Ist; Shakti Singh, 2nd; Abhishek Singh and Ravi Singh, joint 3rd. 55 Kg: Anjeet Singh, Ist; Shubum Saini, 2nd; Rahul Saini and Meer Hussain, joint 3rd. 61 Kg: Makhan Singh, Ist; Sohan Lal, 2nd; Naresh Singh and Qadir Khan, joint 3rd.67 Kg: Makhan Deen, Ist; Sunil Singh, 2nd; Saleem Mohd and Balbinder Singh, joint 3rd. 75 Kg: Raj Singh, Ist; Satvinder Singh, 2nd and Manzoor Hussain, 3rd.
